Bird’s Nest – from Betty Birds diary:
Number 1 – Betty’s most satisfying win was in Stockholm in 2012 playing the o/75 Women’s Singles final. With the game score being 1 – 2 down and 0 – 6, time out was called, then she was 4 – 10 down and the other woman thought she had it won, but Betty kept chopping to her backhand and then wide to her forehand and went on to win 13 – 11 making the score 2 – 2. In the 5th set Betty won 11 – 8 for her first Singles gold medal.
After School Table Tennis
Malcolm has delivered the new Club pamphlets to schools with a different one on Facebook with the information that we will start on Monday 22 July – after the school holidays. Malcolm and Richard have spent time waiting for visitors with none appearing. It is planned to hold two Come ‘n Try days during the next school holidays in October. The team of Omer, Richard and Malcolm will open the Club from 4 – 5.30 hoping children will turn up. There will not be any coaching, just supervision. If you would like to join the team, please contact David Lowe 0422 915 965
